Daring Class Heavy Destroyer |
The Daring class was first proposed in 2290 as a heavy destroyer variant of the popular Avenger Class Frigate. It mounted heavier weaponry at the expense of the science capability of the Avenger. The class was repeatedly delayed to ensure it was kept state of the art. It was originally due to be equipped with FWG-1 warp drives, but the promise of the new FWL-2 drive led to the decision to delay the project and adopt that system.
